Ministry leaders are called to a life of real dependent sacrifice—but not to a life of endless exhaustion. This Focused Gathering, presented by The Center for Biblical Living (CBL.org), explores what it means to offer ourselves as “living sacrifices” (Romans 12:1) while embracing the God-given limits of our humanity in ministry. We will consider a more sustainable vision of ministry: one that honors both our calling and our limits. As Paul reminds us, we are “jars of clay” (2 Corinthians 4:7)—fragile vessels carrying a priceless gospel treasure. Our weakness is not a barrier to ministry, but the normal context in which God’s grace is displayed. Together we’ll reflect on Jesus’ own rhythms of dependence—sleeping, withdrawing, praying—and His invitation to weary workers: “Come to me… and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Far from endorsing burnout, Scripture calls ministry leaders into a rhythm of faithful endurance grounded in trust, rest, and reliance on God’s sustaining grace. This Gathering will challenge common ministry assumptions that equate constant activity with faithfulness, or exhaustion with effectiveness. Instead, it offers a freeing alternative: sustainable sacrifice—self-giving that can be maintained over a lifetime because it is rooted in God’s strength, not our own.
